Our children live in a media saturated society and have access to e-mails, SMS, Facebook, Face Time, Skype, Twitter, Blogs, WhatsApp, iCloud, Cloud Sound etc. Children who are raised on a diet of new technologies are less willing to fill out worksheets and listen to lectures patiently. Teaching students to be successful in a 21st century, knowledge-based economy requires a different way of teaching. Teachers not only need to understand how to use technology in their teaching, they need to be creative in their teaching and understand how to help students use technology to help guide their own learning, to avoid the bad impact of technology.

Technology can equip students to independently organize their learning. So, instead of being passive recipients of information, students using technology become active and wise users.

It is not just enough for us to understand the impact of technological revolution and the media saturated society but in fact we need to adapt to the developments and bring about changes to make our education relevant for the 21st century. To be ready to compete in this era, our school needs to equip them with the skills they need the most, the 21st century skills/7c: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Computer and Digital Literacy, Career and Learning Self Reliance, Cross-cultural Understanding.
