PENABUR Wins Global STEM Award

Empowering STEM Education Professionals Programme (ESEPP) is an event held by meriSTEM@NIE (National Institute of Education) Singapore to enhance the quality of STEM literacy, build a community of STEM educators worldwide, encourage more pervasive adoption of STEM education in schools across the globe, and build partnerships between schools, NIE, and industries for STEM education globally.
This year, taking the theme of STEM as Culture, for the first time ever, the competition was opened to international participants. With a total of 32 teams from 51 schools, PENABUR Intercultural School was selected as the winner for the Secondary School category.
The STEM lesson plan entitled “Designing a Mini Circular Economy Loop as a School Way of Life” was constructed for STEAM learning in Grade 7. Students are taught about different kinds of sensors and how to utilize and design simple prototypes such as a smart parking system, composter, and trash separator. This project incorporated Math, Science, Technology, Economics, and Art as well.
Congratulations to the PENABUR Intercultural School team for this outstanding global achievement!
